Restrictions for assisted living and nursing facilities have precluded Gregston’s Nursing and Rehab from doing their annual Spring Stroll, but Activities Director Lisa Jones has a plan to engage the residents in a new tradition: a Mothers’ Day parade.

“Our residents are eager to see their families,” Jones said. “They also want to get out and enjoy the weather if they can.”

The facility staff asks that family members and members of the community meet at the “new gym” on 9th Street at 2:30pm on Saturday, May 9. The parade will then proceed to Gregston’s, where cars can drive past the facility and participants can wave to residents.

“If people want to make posters, decorate their cars, or play music, anything to let the residents know that they’re loved, that’s great,” Jones said.

After the parade concludes, family members are invited to make “window visits” to residents.
