MMS Wag Walk Fundraiser, Bark in the Park

by Elizabeth Pitts-Hibbard

Marlow Middle School Student Council raised almost $400 in Wag Walk pledges for a fundraiser benefitting Stephens County Humane Society.

“What a wonderful group of young leaders led by Becky Lightner at Marlow Middle School,” said Humane Society board member Patti Whitaker.

During the annual Wag Walk, participants solicit pledges for donations and then participate in a one-mile walk just before Bark in the Park begins. This year’s annual Bark in the Park fundraiser is scheduled for 11am – 3pm on Saturday at Fuqua Park in Duncan.

“Bark in the Park is the Stephens County Humane Society’s biggest fundraiser,” Whitaker said. “The funds raised are critical to the care of the animals while they away their second chance for a new life.”

The event offers fun for all ages and dogs are welcome to attend. Several contests are offered, including Best Bark, Best Trick, Best Pet Costume, Best Owner Lookalike, and Weenie Dog Races.

There is a $5 suggested donation to attend the event.
