In a high school experience such as the Class of 2021 has had, beginning with a teacher walk-out in their freshman year and concluding with a senior year fraught with battling a global pandemic, students and faculty at Marlow High School are prioritizing the observance of Outlaw traditions.

Typically, seniors are treated to a Thanksgiving lunch in November that marks the first of many senior events at MHS, but in November 2020 the school closed to virtual learning during Thanksgiving week because of a teacher and substitute shortage.

This month, Marlow Public School cafeteria staff LouAnn Worthley and Laquita Craft decided that canceling the traditional senior lunch simply would not do; they planned a Valentine lunch so that the tradition could continue.

School closure due to inclement weather earlier this week threatened to cancel the meal again, but with school back in session on Friday, seniors were dismissed from class early so that they could enjoy the special meal together: ham, mashed potatoes, salad, rolls, and cake. The staff also decorated the tables and made a special bulletin board for the senior class.

School administrators, including Superintendent George Coffman, Assistant Superintendent Brenda Parker-Tillian, Principal Bryan Brantley, and Assistant Principal Jeremy Gage served the meal alongside Craft and custodians Matt and Amy Hanson.
