Harold "Pete" Warren Hanson

Harold "Pete" Warren Hanson, 76, passed away Monday, November 22, 2021 in Duncan. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Marlow, with Elder Dan Myers officiating. Burial will be in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 23, 12:00 PM to 8:30 AM, and Wednesday, November 24, 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM, at the funeral home. Pete was born Tuesday, July 10, 1945 in Claremore, to Harold Warren and Carol Joy (Burns) Hanson. He was a 1963 graduate of Owasso High School. Pete was also a graduate of Northeastern State University, where he earned a Bachelors degree in 1967 and a Master's degree in 1972. He attended the University of Oklahoma as well, earning an Administrator's degree in 1975. Pete married his best friend and soul mate, Sandra Kay Ezzell, on December 20, 1968, in Sapulpa at the Southern Heights Baptist Church. He and Sandra celebrated more than 52 wonderful years of marriage together. Pete worked as a teacher and coach at several different schools including Mannford High School (1967-1973), Bixby High School (1973-1975), and Marlow Middle School (1977-1996). He also served as the Healdton High School Principal from 1975-1977. Pete enjoyed watching football, working in the yard, visiting with his family and friends, and kidding around with his grandkids. He loved his family dearly and will be missed by many. Survivors include his wife of the home, son, Michael Hanson and wife Tabitha of Nashville, AR, daughter, Terri Moore of Rose Hill, KS, 7 grandchildren, Grant Moore, Tyler Hanson, Austin Hanson, Carys Moore, Aubrey Moore, Drake Mason, and Corbin Mason, Sister in law, Sherry Smith and husband Joe of Sapulpa, niece Jennifer Newport and husband Dustin, 3 great nephews and 1 great niece of Sapulpa, and Aunt, Donna Burns of Big Cabin. Pete was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital at www.stjude.org/donate Pallbearers will be Pete's grandchildren. Sandra is thankful for everyone who came. For those that sent flowers, 5 cards did not reach us and I apologize if yours was one.
