Brantley to Receive Hall of Fame Award

Marlow High School art teacher Arlyn Brantley will receive the Chisholm Trail Arts Council (CTAC) Educator Award at the Duncan Area Arts Hall of Fame ceremony on Saturday.
Brantley is in his 17th year of teaching and has been involved with CTAC for the past decade.
“[He] has become a great asset, with constructive teaching skills that we enjoy having at CTAC’s annual Arts Explosion camps,” said Darcy Reeves, CTAC Executive Director. “He continues to teach students of all ages the basic fundamentals of art and gets [them] to think creatively about what they are always working on.”
Brantley works with CTAC to bring artists to the classroom and has taught pottery, small sculpture, recycled art, and printmaking at the summer Arts Explosion.
Brantley said that he enjoys sharing his work with other but feels his true dedication to the arts is in the daily classroom exercises he shares with MHS art students.
“I hope that students feel inspired to believe in themselves and develop their potential to think creatively and collaboratively among others,” Brantley said. “There will always be a need for the creative class in society to propel us forward in how we envision our lives and future. It is exciting to think that I might have a small part in that future.”
The Duncan Area Arts Hall of Fame award ceremony and reception will be held on Saturday, January 29 at the Simmons Center in Duncan. Tickets are available by calling 580-252-2900 ext. 240; VIP tickets are $75 and general admission is $35.
