Outlaws Share Two Homecoming Victories

The Marlow Outlaws and Lady Outlaws squeaked out two wins at Homecoming against the Lindsay Leopards on Friday, with both home teams winning by a scant three points.

For the Outlaw boys, the win added to their eight-game winning streak that seated them at #4 in Class 3A.

Marlow and Lindsay traded the lead back and forth, with Marlow up by six at one point in the first quarter, their largest lead all night. The quarter ended with Lindsay up 11-9 over Marlow. Payback came in the second period, with the Outlaws whittling the Leopards’ lead, outscoring by three to close the half with Marlow up 17-16.

The second half again saw the Outlaws up, owing to three-pointers by Julian Marroquin, Jace Gilbert, and Kaden Harris as well as four points from the field and one free throw by Avrey Payne.

The Leopards held the Outlaws to just seven points in the fourth period but it wasn’t quite enough to retake the lead as Josiah Johnson scored another pair of baskets and Payne was perfect from the line to end it, 38-35 for the Outlaws.

The Lady Outlaws also started their game against Lindsay at a deficit, and remained so until early in the fourth period. The Marlow girls took advantage of their many opportunities at the foul line, to the tune of shooting 12 for 16 in that period alone to chip away at Lindsay’s lead.

Whitney Wade with 12 points was again the scoring leader for the Marlow girls, alongside Dara Hunt with 10. Hunt’s scoring included a three-pointer in the first period and shooting 3 for 5 from the foul line.

The Lady Outlaws are 13-4 for the season and ranked #15 in Class 3A.
