A 6.4 magnitude earthquake centered southwest of Ferndale, CA, has an estimated 70,000 people without power this morning in Humboldt County. Aftershocks are still being reported, one a 4.6 and another 3.1 magnitude. Many throughout California awoke or were alerted at 2:34 a.m. when the earthquake struck.

Only three days ago, the fourth strongest recorded earthquake to hit Texas, was a 5.3, located 12 miles northwest of Midland. That earthquake hit at 5:35 p.m.

No injuries have been reported in this morning’s earthquake and the United States National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) reports there is no current tsunami threat. Residents in CA have shared home damage images and stories on social media.

Meanwhile, here in Oklahoma, we’re all preparing for the big freeze. Trending on Twitter is #okwx. Depending on your Tuesday morning commute location, temperatures ranged from 34 to 41 degrees between Duncan and Marlow and the wind is blowing.

Expert meteorologists have predicted anywhere from a trace of snow in southern Oklahoma late Wednesday up to 4 inches in the northeast corner of the state. Wind chill factor could drop our temperatures well into the negative numbers. How negative? Up to -15 to -20 below for Stephens County, per Oklahoma Mesonet. This winter storm warning means taking extra precautions, including staying indoors. It is possible it will be near blizzard conditions.

Here at The Marlow Review, we will be monitoring the incoming storm. We will possibly close Thursday and Friday, but should breaking news happen, we will post on our website and share to our social media accounts if possible.
