BREAKING NEWS: OSBI investigating after inmate found dead in Stephens County Jail

DUNCAN, Okla. (December 26, 2022) – The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) after an inmate was found deceased in the jail on Christmas Day. Late morning, another inmate found the deceased alone in a cell unresponsive and immediately began life-saving measures. However, the inmate was already deceased. The deceased inmate was transported to the Medical Examiner’s office who will determine cause and manner of death.
The deceased inmate was arrested in August for failing to appear in court on a manslaughter charge.
There is no additional information to release at this time.
