Sporting Events could be impacted by incoming Winter Weather; Schedules are current as of Friday, Jan 27

Area schools are taking advance steps to the incoming weather forecast that could interrupt daily plans for the week beginning Sunday, with that weather to ramp up on Tuesday.

This affects sports schedules.

Here’s a quick look at the changes of which we have been notified:

Washington is moving its high school basketball games from Tuesday to Monday. Because they won’t have enough freshman girls to play a 9th-grade game in Marlow on Monday, it will affect other sporting events.

Basketball: Marlow will play 7th and 8th-grade girls games starting at 4 p.m. at the Dome Gym and the Boys' 7/8/9th grades at Washingon; the Junior High and High School wrestling meet with Newcastle was rescheduled to Monday night in the new gym on 9th Street, but it’s possible that both girls’ games and the 7th, 8th and 9th-grade boys’ games at Washington could be moved up to an earlier start time Monday afternoon.

Marlow’s wrestling homecoming/senior night is scheduled for Monday night at the new gym. As of Friday afternoon, Jan. 27, that event is still scheduled.
