(Oklahoma City) - Marlow native, Cassi Peters, was honored by the American Association of Political Consultants (AAPC) as one of the 40 best and brightest campaign professionals under 40 years old.

“AAPC is pleased to recognize Cassi Peters as a member of our 2023 class of 40 Under 40 for her outstanding achievements,” said AAPC President Becki Donatelli. “We are elated to welcome a new class of gifted political consultants who will continue to make an impact in our industry.”

Peters is a Regional Political Director for the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC), based in Washington, DC, where she leads and advises Democratic state legislative caucuses on building and maintaining political programs. During the 2022 election cycle, she worked with 10 states across the country, including Oklahoma. In addition, Peters advised both the New Hampshire State House Democrats and Arizona State House and Senate in their historic wins in nearly winning majorities. She continues to work with the New Hampshire House and Senate in their bids to win majorities in 2024. Before joining the DLCC, Peters co-founded Skyfire Media, a Democratic consulting firm based in Oklahoma City. There, she helped elect over 70 legislators, local elected officials, tribal nation leaders, and others across Oklahoma and the United States.

Only 20 Republicans and 20 Democrats in the United States were named to AAPC’s exclusive 40 Under 40 winners list. Candidates were evaluated on their roles as strategic consultants and professionals in the industry, along with leadership and professional accomplishments in political consulting.

“I’m honored to receive this prestigious award and always grateful to have the chance to be a part of real change in our community, Oklahoma, and across the country,” said Peters. “My first experience in politics was paging for Rep. Ray McCarter at the State Capitol in 2003 and volunteering on a campaign in Duncan. I had no idea at the time this would launch me into an almost 20-year career at every level of the ballot and earn me national recognition. I would never be here without the strong education and mentorship from teachers at Marlow Public Schools. I will remain forever grateful to do this work and am humbled by the recognition from the AAPC.”

Peters is a 5th generation Oklahoman, a 2003 graduate of Marlow High School, holds Bachelor’s degrees from the University of Oklahoma in Political Science and Public Relations, and has returned to school seeking a Certificate of Higher Education at the University of Oxford in history. Peters lives and works remotely in Oklahoma City with her husband, Joe, and two kids, Josi and Guthrie.

“Cassi Peters has been a staple of Oklahoma politics for over a decade,” said Oklahoma House Democratic Leader Cyndi Munson (D) Oklahoma City. “I would have never won any of my races without her guidance and I know many of my colleagues feel the same way. Cassi is respected by both her Democratic and Republican colleagues and helps all of us make Oklahoma a better place for everyone.”
