John “Wayne” Barker (1965-2023) Rush Springs, OK

John “Wayne” Barker, 58, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2023 in Duncan.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 15, 2023, at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Marlow. Burial will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.

Visitation for Wayne will be at Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Marlow 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, and 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 14.

Wayne was born Monday, May 10, 1965, in Marlow, to John Charles and Lonora Kay (Scott) Barker. He was a graduate of Bray High School and lived in Stephens County all of his life.

Wayne started farming at just 14 years old and worked for Reeder Farms for more than 36 years. He married the love of his life, Cleta Joyce Moore, on February 14, 1991, at his Aunt Carolyn's house in Bray. Wayne was a friend to all, never met a stranger, and he always made those around him laugh. He was the kindest of kind and would give anyone the shirt off of his own back. Wayne enjoyed playing pool and entering into the local pool tournaments. He also enjoyed working on his Harley and riding with his friends. Wayne loved his family, especially his grandkids, and he never missed an opportunity to spend time with them. He often took them out to get snow cones, ice cream, or to go fishing, and he loved seeing them with his own grandmother, GG.

Wayne's absence has left holes in the hearts of those who knew and loved him and he will be dearly missed in the days to come.

Survivors include his daughter, Stephanie Barker and husband Tyler Buchanan of Duncan, three grandchildren, Cleta Anne Buchanan, Tyler Lee Buchanan Jr. “Boo Boo”, and Wesley Buchanan, mother, Lenora Barker, brother, Randolf Oneil Barker and wife Megan of Duncan, sister, Judy Kay Lewis and husband Jon of Edmond, nieces and nephews, Ella Barker, John Barker, Rachele Palmer and husband Brandon, Cade Palmer, Collin Palmer, Crew Palmer, Charles Lewis, Jamie and Dennis Winze and their family, Holly and Gary Drake and family, and Kelly and David Orozco and family

In addition to his wife Cleta, Wayne was preceded in death by his father, his grandparents, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be: Lynn Byford, Chris Byford, Tyler Buchanan, Dennis Sweat, Kelly Waggoner, and Scott Williams.
