Selection Committee Continues Review of Police Chief Applicants

June 15, 2023

The search for a new Marlow police chief is officially underway. The process will take time, and according to City Administrator Jason McPherson, the selection committee met last week to receive applications.

“This week, the committee will reconvene to discuss the applicants and look at scheduling for interviews,” he said. Actual interviews may not begin until the end of the month or even July. McPherson said he expects there could be at least two rounds of interviews. A new police chief could be hired as early as August, but then again not until September.

Leroy Walker retired April 21, after serving the community for 45 years. He joined the Marlow Police Department in 1978. He was officially appointed chief in 2015. Officer Tony Aguilera was appointed interim upon Walker’s departure.
