Fireworks Show Returns to Bray
It’s been three years since Bray’s Independence Day Fireworks Show has lit up the sky over the small community east of Marlow. The little town will have its big Independence Day Celebration Saturday. Dianna Littrell and other Bray residents, including Todd Pass and Michelle Patterson, have been busy for months raising funds for the show.
The event had become a huge attraction for not only Bray residents, but also others from around the area.
“One of my main objectives is to bring families back together. I reached out to Todd and asked what we could do to get this back. Everyone just loved it,” Littrell said. “Our goal was to raise $10,000 to get the best show back. We haven’t done the show in the last three years, because of highway construction and then COVID, but we’ve had an overwhelming response in sponsors. Plus, we’ve added more to the event for a family atmosphere. It’s always been about family, but there’s more things to do.”
Live music begins at 5 p.m. with acoustic player Anthony Spencer, followed by the Oklahoma Outlaws on stage at 6:30 p.m. Littrell said it’s a mix of red dirt, country and southern rock and roll music from both acts. The fireworks show starts at dusk, with Pass overseeing the display. One of the main issues is parking so that everyone can attend the family activities and also enjoy the fireworks show.
“We added handicap parking with banners made for that, and people can park in front of the Community Center, right on Brooks Rd. We had some big signs made and have that sectioned off. Parking will be allowed at the school, and people don’t always realize that,” she said.
The baseball field will be the staging area for the vendors and food trucks. She said vendors will have everything from face painting to jewelry and hair tinsel. That location is also where the fireworks will be staged. The celebration includes a bounce house, face painting and other events for the young children.
