Sunshine OHCE report for October 2020

The October Sunshine OHCE meeting was held at the Stephens County Fairgrounds with 14 members attending following the CDC Covid guidelines. Dana Womack, Sheila Ely and Sandy Pogue served as hostesses. Sheila Ely provided the OSU Ambassador Program Newsletter to the group. Sunshine voted to make a donation to the OSU Ambassadors, who provides grants to extension groups and educators for community projects.

Cultural Enrichment and Healthy Living Committees reported that Sunshine members made 1005 ribbons for Red Ribbon Month requested by Duncan Regional Hospital Health Pathways committee. The ribbons will be distributed to students at Duncan High School. Healthy Living Committee reported that plans are still to participate in the Parenting Skills Project for Charis, but dates have not been confirmed. Vicki Zimmerman confirmed that there will be a County Council meeting October 27 at the Fairgrounds. Because of Covid, the pot luncheon will not be held. Sunshine is the hostess and will decorate on Monday, October 26 at 1pm.

"Fall into OHCE" will be the theme. Members were asked to bring their fall decorations for the tables. There also will be a silent auction to raise money for Stephens County OHCE. The 4 Stephen County extension groups are to bring 2 offerings for the auction. Sunshine will provide items for quilting basket and another item for the auction. Sue Smith-Raska and Flo Stuckert will be responsible for collection of the items. Items need to be collected by October 22. Vicky Malone will provide a workshop, Gifts in a Jar, after the business meeting.

A 2021-2022 slate of officers for Sunshine was presented by Linda Heilman and voted in by the group: President-Flo Stuckert, Vickie Zimmerman-Vice President, Jane Mitchell-Secretary, Linda Heilman-Treasurer. The next meeting will be 9:30am November 5 at the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center. Gina Flesher will be the hostess and has arranged for a tour of the Heritage Center after the meeting for those interested. Vickie Zimmerman will provide the lesson on "Decorating for Family Celebrations". After the business meeting, Barbara Leverett provided the lesson, "All Things Pumpkin". She distributed several recipes and decorating ideas using pumpkins. She also provided several desserts she made using pumpkin for tasting ,
