Sunshine OHCE wraps presents for Duncan Community Residents at December meeting

December 17, 2020

Sunshine OHCE met Thursday Dec 10, 2020 at All Saints Episcopal Church at 9:30 am. Ten members and one guest, Sheila Houston, met to wrap presents for the 22 Duncan Community Residents. Lap blankets with each resident's name embroidered on it was the "wrapping paper" for the socks and treats donated by members. President Gina Flesher did the embroidery on each of the blankets

A blanket and bag of goodies was also assembled for the director of DCR, Lisa Bennett, and for a special friend, Buz Grabman, that was filled with cards of encouragement and a few treasures. Social distancing and masks were worn per the CDC guidelines for COVID-19.

Gina expressed a HUGE thank you to all for their commitment to this project and a special thanks to those that filled the gap on those unable to provide socks for the blanket ministry.

President Flesher reminded the following members of their assigned reports that are due in January 2021 to the OSU Extension office:

Healthy Living: Red Ribbon Project - Gina Flesher

Cultural Enrichment: Camp Walahuia' - Vicki Zimmerman

Family Issues: Christmas Blankets - Vicki Zimmerman

Resource Management: Garage Sale - Donnita Hall

Tonie Bess also reminded the group to submit your COVID-19 stories as soon as the criteria can be shared. It is meant to be a reflection of the impact this devastating virus has had on your personal life. The deadline will be mid-January.

Jan 7[th], 2021 meeting is pending a location due to the recommendation at present that OHCE groups do not meet formally. This meeting is usually the time to induct new officers. Flo Stuckert, as the incoming president, has asked all to consider a clever way to do so even if we will not meet in person. This is also the meeting we review the Yearbook and volunteer for hostess and other duties for the remaining calendar. Please consider how you might help out.
