Ronald Edward Burton (1944-2023) Marlow, OK

Ronald Edward Burton was born February 6, 1944, and died September 26, 2023, in Marlow. Services will be at First Baptist Church in Marlow at 1 p.m. Friday, September 29, 2023, under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home. Viewing will be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday.

Ron was born in Marlow, to parents Jim and Mildred Davidson Burton of Rush Springs. He grew up in Rush Springs and graduated from Rush Springs schools in 1960. Ron was a member of Vimy Ridge Baptist Church in Rush Springs. After school, he served in the United States Navy for over 4 years. Ron worked at Halliburton and retired from Fort Sill civil service as the Supervisor of Medical Supplies.

Ron married Pam Recknagel on May 22, 1965, and were happily married for 58 years. They lived in Milton Florida, Duncan, and Marlow Oklahoma. From that union came two daughters. Deborah Webb and husband David of Alex and Susan Johnson and husband Gary of Ada. Ron had seven grandchildren: Erica Crider, Madison Crider, Mica Webb, Jay Webb, Abi Johnson, Brady Johnson and Zac Johnson and wife Kelby. Ron also had three great-grandchildren: Nathan Ronnie Peralta, Natalia Rose Peralta, and Evie Layne Johnson.

Ron is survived by brother Lynn Burton and wife Connie of Senoia Georgia, also sister Ann Hankins and husband Leroy of Ninnekah, Oklahoma. Also survived by sister-in-law June Sher and husband Gary of Kerrville, Texas, and an aunt, Loraine Vaughn of Marlow, and a multitude of nieces and nephews.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Mildred Burton and mother and father-in-law John and Judy Recknagel. Also, sister and brother-in-law Janiece and Johnny Heard.

Ron loved his wife and daughters and grandchildren very much. He was a renowned crappie fisherman, a wonderful cook, could fix anything and could grow beautiful plants and vegetables. He will be missed so much.
