DUNCAN, Okla. - Janet Ruth Brown, 92, passed away Saturday, December 9, 2023, in Duncan.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, December 16, 2023, at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home, with cremation to follow. All services and cremation have been entrusted to, and are under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services of Marlow.

Janet was born Saturday, February 14, 1931, in Oak Park, Illinois, to John Francis and Frances Mabel (Blackwood) Bostwick. She had lived in the Marlow area since August of this year after moving from Broken Arrow for the previous five years. Janet worked for many years for Sachs Fifth Avenue as a clothing designer and also managed several locations. She was married on December 23, 1951, in Colorado to Alexander William Brown II. He preceded her in death on March 11, 2005. She was a very social and friendly person who never met a stranger and could talk with anyone. She loved to travel and design clothing and also loved to learn as much as she could about fashion and styling trends. She loved studying and learning about the Bible and read it as much as she could. She was a wonderful woman who will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her son, Mark Lee DeVore of Waynesboro, PA, three daughters, Linda Sue Oldham and husband Randy of Marlow, Penny Catherine Griffith and husband Mike of Castle Rock, CO, Billie Jo Sheppard and husband Steve of Broken Arrow, nine grandchildren, Zach DeVore, Lisa Moran, LeAnn Wrinn, Mathew Griffith, Kevin Griffith, Michael Klemmetson, Nichole Sands, Aaron Sheppard and Nick Sheppard. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Sharon Anne Aello and husband David of Etobicoke, ON, Marnie Brown of Toronto, ON, and Bonnie Kettle of Ottowa, CA.

In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Don Edward Brown, two daughters, Georgina Gail Klemmetson-Sands, Cindy Brown, two brothers, Don Martin Bostwick and Frank Bostwick.
