Sheriff's Office offers Citizen's Academy

February 14, 2024

The Stephens County Sheriff's Office will be offering a Citizen's Academy that will start on March 2.

"We are excited to be able to invite the Citizens of Stephens County to learn more about their Sheriff's Department," said SCSO Undersheriff Rick Lang. This is the first time for the department to offer this to residents.

This is a free course that is based on application review. There will be four classes, one per week, about four hours each. Attendees will gain information on the mission and operation of the Stephens County Sheriff's Office. Instructors will explain the many facets of the Department and how it operates including hiring, standards, training, investigations, civil service, jail operations and office management.

The first class starts at 9 a.m. March 2, at the sheriff's office in the county courthouse, 101 S. 11[th] St. in Duncan. Class attendees will be informed that day of additional dates and times.

Anyone interested in attending can pick up an application from the Sheriff's Office. Applicants must be over the age of 18 and have a clean criminal record and be a citizen of Stephens County. Once the application has been reviewed the applicant will be notified if they are accepted.
