Lawton Native, Tulsa Engineer Recognized for Four Decades of Service to MathCounts Oklahoma
March 26, 2026
The Oklahoma Engineering Foundation honored longtime MATHCOUNTS Oklahoma leader Gaylon Pinc, P.E., at the 2026 Oklahoma MATHCOUNTS state competition, recognizing more than four decades of service to the program and to STEM education in the state.
Pinc, who grew up in Lawton and later built his career in Tulsa as founder of Professional Management Group, a consulting engineering firm, has been involved with MATHCOUNTS since the first Oklahoma competition in 1983. A longtime Tulsa resident, he now serves as Oklahoma MATHCOUNTS co-chair, helping guide the statewide program that introduces middle school students to the excitement and challenge of mathematics and problem solving.
During the event, Diana Bittle, OEF Trustee and MATHCOUNTS Oklahoma Co-Chair recognized Pinc’s extraordinary dedication to mentoring students, supporting teachers and volunteers, and strengthening the MATHCOUNTS program across Oklahoma. Members of his family were present for the presentation.
To honor his legacy, the foundation also announced the creation of the Gaylon Pinc MATHCOUNTS Service Award, which will be presented annually to an individual who has demonstrated outstanding support and commitment to the MATHCOUNTS program in Oklahoma.
“Gaylon’s leadership and commitment have shaped generations of students and volunteers in Oklahoma’s MATHCOUNTS community,” said Bittle, also, COO of American Fidelity. “It is fitting that this award will carry his name and continue recognizing those who help inspire the next generation of problem solvers.”
MATHCOUNTS is a national program designed to inspire excellence, confidence, and curiosity in middle school students through mathematics. In Oklahoma, the program is administered by OEF and presented by American Fidelity with support from volunteer engineers, educators and other industry partners across the state.
A healthy Stephens County requires great community news.
