Marlow High School Alumna Melissa Cooper Named El Reno Rookie Teacher of the Year

Melissa Cooper, a proud graduate of Marlow High School, has been honored with the prestigious title of El Reno Rookie Teacher of the Year. This accolade is a testament to her dedication and excellence in education, and it comes as a delightful surprise to the newly recognized teacher.
Melissa, who graduated from Marlow High School in 2001, expressed her emotions upon receiving the award, stating, “I felt very surprised and very happy. It felt like my hard work didn’t go unnoticed.” Her commitment to her students and passion for teaching have evidently made a significant impact in her first year at El Reno.
Reflecting on her formative years, Melissa wholeheartedly believes that her time in Marlow significantly shaped her identity and career. “Oh, 100%,” she remarked when asked about the influence of her upbringing in Marlow. “Everything that I do is because of the public school system there.”
In accepting this award, Melissa took a moment to extend her gratitude to the individuals who have supported her along the way. “I want to thank all of the staff at El Reno,” she stated, recognizing the collaborative effort that goes into fostering a positive learning environment.
Despite her new achievements, Melissa admits she misses some old friends who still reside in Marlow. As she continues her journey as an educator, she remains connected to her roots and the community that helped shape her.
