Stephens County Tournament - Round 1 - Marlow Boys vs Central High

January 22, 2020

The second-seeded Outlaws handily took care of the seventh-seeded Central High Bronchos in their first-round bout at the Stephens County Tournament on Tuesday with a final score of 75-47 and will advance to the semifinals on Thursday.

Marlow’s team, led by starters Julian Marroquin, Josiah Johnson, Nate Herchock, Sam Ivory, and Macoy Ramsey, grabbed the lead from the jump and didn’t let it go, scoring double-digits in all four quarters.

Johnson proved to be the scoring standout for the Outlaws with 20 on the board, followed by Blake Harris. The Bronchos relied heavily on Cole Doughty and his 17 points including two three-pointers. The remaining scores for Central High were spread evenly among starters Ryan Minden, Bryson Johnson, Landon Burton, and Teague Prather.

Free throws were a challenge for the Outlaws, who shot 8 for 20 attempts at the line compared to the Bronchos’ 9 for 12, including Landon Burton’s impressive 6 out of 7.

The Stephens County Tournament breaks until Thursday, and Marlow will meet Comanche in the 8pm game. The third-seeded Indians are coming out of a well-matched 53-40 win over the sixth-seed Empire Bulldogs on Tuesday night.

Central High will battle Empire on Friday night to see who advances in the Consolation bracket.
