Dorothy Pauline (Lutonsky) Jones

March 26, 2018

Dorothy Pauline (Lutonsky) Jones was born in Lawton, January 6, 1923, daughter of Agnes (Jacobi) and Paul Lutonsky of Sterling. She grew up on the family farm and attended school in Sterling. Mother (Memaw) excelled in school, was the class reporter, and Salutatorian of her graduating class of 1941.

Mother attended Cameron College, majoring in journalism. When WW2 was beginning in Europe, she traveled by train to Seattle, Washington, to join Jack Jones of Rush Springs, and on September 10, 1943, they married. They worked in the shipyards, Jack as a welder on battleships and Dorothy in the shipyard hospital. Eventually, they returned to Oklahoma where they farmed, ranched and raised their family.

Dorothy was preceded in death by husband, Jack; her parents, Paul and Agnes Lutonsky; brothers, Alfred, Marvin, Gus, Charles and Albert Lutonsky; and sisters, Helen Hanks and Lucile High; grandson, Destry Horton; and great-granddaughter, McKenzie Horton. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Jeri and Warren Thomas of Lexington, Steve and Tamma Jones of Rush Springs, Betty and Brad White of Rush Springs, Janel and Michael Domurat of Morrison, Colorado, Justin and Lisa Jones of Lexington, and Renee (Beard) Jones of Rush Springs. She is Memaw to 11 surviving grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Her crowning achievement was her faithful and consistent walk with the Lord, that both defined her and of which she was most proud. She prayed her family through the trials and tribulations of life; we could always count on Memaw to faithfully lift us up in prayer before the Lord-what an encouragement. What a legacy! She embodied humility, and at every opportunity possible, responded to her unceasing and well-deserved accolades with “to God be the glory!”

To say that our mother and our Memaw will be missed is an understatement beyond words to express. With our faith in Jesus Christ, we have comfort and every confidence in knowing that we will one day see her again.
