Boles Named “Emerging Leader” by National Legislative Training Group

November 14, 2019

State Rep. Brad Boles (R-Marlow) was nominated to attend the NCSL Emerging Leaders conference this month. This group is comprised of promising legislators selected for their potential and ability to impact their state.

“I’m grateful to have been nominated by Speaker McCall and selected as an Emerging Leader this year,” Boles said. “Throughout my time in the Legislature, my top priority has always remained to serve District 51 to the best of my ability, and conferences like this are incredibly helpful in learning new leadership skills. I’m looking forward to meeting with legislators from across the country and collaborating on new approaches to policy issues.”

Boles, who represents portions of Grady, McClain, and Stephens Counties, was elected to District 51 in a 2018 special election and is the current Chairman of the County & Municipal Government Committee. Prior to serving in the House, Boles was President of Wilco Machine & Fab, Inc., served on the Marlow Public School Board of Education and also served four years as the mayor of Marlow.

The Emerging Leaders program is an initiative to coach and develop state legislators from across the country on how to be effective legislative leaders.

To be selected, an Emerging Leader must be nominated by a member of the organization’s Legislative Leaders Advisory Board or a legislative leader in their state. Boles was nominated by House Speaker Charles McCall (R-Atoka).

“From the day he joined the Legislature, Rep. Boles has hit the ground running to serve District 51 to the best of his abilities,” McCall said. “His open door policy and willingness to both listen and discuss the issues show a strong foundation of leadership, and I’m confident his district and the Legislature will benefit from the new leadership skills he’ll learn at this conference.”

Boles will attend the conference in Atlanta, GA later this month. The Summit gives participants the opportunity to learn from policy experts, veteran lawmakers, communications professionals, and seasoned political strategists as well as each other. These leaders return to their states better equipped to advance the ideas they are championing.
