Outlaw Swimmers Qualify for State Meet

The Marlow Outlaws swim team is headed to the State meet on February 22 and 23 after qualifying at Regionals last weekend.

Karsten Terrell took the top spot in 500-yard freestyle, edging out all other competitors in the state after beating the east region number-one qualifier with a time of 5:12.59, shaving 14 seconds off of his season-best time. Terrell was runner-up in the 200-yard freestyle with 1:52.61.

Gage DaVoult also qualified in two individual events, the 50-yard freestyle (23.35, 4th place) and 100-yard freestyle (51.77, 2nd place).

Luke Banks will also swim at state in individual events after qualifying at 8th place in 100-yard butterfly and 11th place in 50-yard freestyle.

Terrell, DaVoult, and Banks will be joined in the 400-yard freestyle relay with Jared Brown after the team’s third-place regional finish at 3:52.56 and with Braxton Ramsey in the 200-yard medley relay after taking fourth at regionals.

The Marlow boys’ team finished fifth at regionals out of 19.

The sole Lady Outlaw, Morgan Warren, will head to state in two individual events, the 200-yard freestyle (2:26.12, 3rd place) and 500-yard freestyle (6:41.77, 6th place).

The state meet will be held at Edmond Schools Aquatic Center; times are yet to be determined.
