Helen Gertrude Cuthbertson

Helen Gertrude Cuthbertson, passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2017, in Duncan at the age of 89.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, September 2, 2017, at the First Baptist Church, with Dr. Joe Ligon officiating. Burial will follow in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation in Marlow.

Helen was born Saturday, October 1, 1927, in Paris, Texas, to William Lee and Oma (Long) Yancy. She had lived in the Rush Springs and Marlow area most of her life, and had lived briefly in the Oklahoma City area. Helen had three husbands that preceded her in death. She loved to garden taking especially good care of her flowers. Helen loved to cook and used her love of cooking to provide meals for everyone at Falls Creek. She especially enjoyed sewing and traveling to see family and friends, as she loved spending time with them all. Helen was a member of the Red Hat Club, OM Buds Man Club, Good Sam Club, and the Silver Tones. She was always an active member of the First Baptist Church in Marlow and had taught Sunday School for many years.

Survivors include two sons, Nick Edwards and wife, Debbie of Rush Springs; Rick Edwards of Marlow; a daughter, Tammy Dobey and husband, Steven of Marlow; a brother, Harold Yancy and wife, Charlotte of Yukon; two sisters, Lois Edwards of Anadarko, and Loretha Malone in Marlow. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and a daughter-in-law, Fran Edwards of Rush Springs.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her three husbands, James Richardson, Bruce Edwards, and Dean Cuthbertson; a sister, Opal Glenn; brother, Glenn Yancy; two infant brothers; and a daughter-in-law, Betty Edwards.

Pallbearers will be members of the family.
