John Tom Underwood

John Tom Underwood, left this earth on Sunday, November 19, 2017, in Lawton at the age of 89.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at the First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Doyle Sharp and Rev. Kevin McKinley officiating. Burial will be directly following in the Foster Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.

John was born Friday, October 26, 1928, in Gracemont, to William B. and Nancy Ethel (Hardy) Underwood. He attended school at Gracemont and Anadarko in his younger years and was an All-State qualifier in high school for basketball and track. John married his beautiful wife, Alice Mae Hunt, on July 23, 1947, in Wichita Falls, Texas. They were married for 69 wonderful years. Alice preceded him in death on January 10, 2016. He had worked as a Civil Service worker at Fort Sill for 22 years. John had lived in the Marlow area since 1959 in the same house for 58 years. He was very active working within the church and was a member of the Methodist Men. John loved to play dominoes and watch all sports activities if it was in person or on the T.V. He was a servant to anyone in need as he was always taking someone to the doctor or helping out with other activities within the church or community. John ran chains for the football team for many years and also served as the Booster Club President and an honorary member to the club as well. He was a statistician for basketball for 29 years. John was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Marlow.

Survivors include four daughters, Pat Wilson of Marlow; Karen Milligan and husband, Buster of Foster; Mary Alice Dixon and husband, Jim of Sulphur; Terri Agee and husband, Cliff of Sulphur; eight grandchildren, Justin, Carla, David, Shylan, Amy, Reggie, Lauren, and Luke. He is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ouida McGinty and husband, Bob of Stillwater; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Camilla Schmitt.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons.

Honorary Pallbearers will be his domino-playing friends.
