Bettye Lou Johnson

Bettye Lou Johnson left this world to go to her Heavenly home Tuesday, April 17, 2018, in Duncan at the age of 83.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, April 23, 2018, at the First Christian Church, with Pastor Ron Oref officiating. Burial will follow in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.

Bettye was born Wednesday, February 6, 1935, southeast of Elgin, to Pete and Mattie (Alexander) Jespen. She had lived in the Stephens and Comanche counties all of her life attending school at Beaver Valley School-east of Elgin and later Elgin and Fletcher schools. She graduated with the Class of 1952 at Fletcher High School. In 1953 she married C.F. Collins and later divorcing. Bettye went on to marry Wayne Johnson in Wichita Falls on June 12, 1958. They moved west of Marlow in the Central High area were they farmed until the passing of Wayne on June 21, 1990; they were married for 32 years. Bettye worked for the Fort Sill Bank for 17 years and for the City of Duncan for over 10 years before retiring. She loved to garden and raise flowers. She was an amazing cook and family woman that loved her family and church. She was a member of the First Christian Church.

Survivors include a son, Ronald Johnson and wife, Kelly of Central High; a daughter, Vicky Greer and husband, Joe of Central High; six grandchildren, Kristi, Kim, Brian, Cody, Heather, and Baylee; and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews; her dog, Sissy; and two cats, Kat and Slick.

Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Don Johnson; her parents; and a brother, Bob Jepsen.

Pallbearers will be Rick Muncy, Greg Belcher, Jack Brackett, Dave Smith, Danny Brown, and Jerry Don Wood.
