Doris Jean Townley

Marlow: Doris Jean Townley, passed away Friday,  November 16, 2018 in Marlow, at the age of 86.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, November 21, 2018, at the Glory Bound Church, with Rev. David Woods officiating.  Burial will be in the Longwood Cemetery in Ponca City at 3:00 PM under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.

Doris was born Thursday,  January 28, 1932 in Carnegie, to Elzie Hill and Audie (Blackburn) Hill. She lived in the Ponca City area for most of her adult life before moving to Marlow 9 years ago. Doris married the love of her life, Elmer "J.R." Townley in Ponca City on March 19, 1948. They enjoyed 61 wonderful years before J.R.'s passing on June 26, 2009. She was a loving family woman that took good care of her family. Doris loved her grandchildren very much. She was a great cook that made wonderful chili and hot rolls. She enjoyed sewing and knitting in her spare time. Doris was a one of a kind loving woman that will be dearly missed by her family.   

Survivors include, a son, Daryl Townley and wife Betty of Duncan, 2 granddaughters, Karen Pritchard of Marlow, Kristie Lynn of Velma, 3 great-grandson, Tyler Pritchard, Checotah Lynn, and Dakota Lynn. She is also survived by a brother, Gerald North of Norman, 3 sisters, Evelyn Thurmon of Edmond, Rev. Charlene West of Oklahoma City, Betty Cramp of Kingston, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  

Along with her husband, Doris was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Jean Brown, her parents, a brother, Charles North, and a sister, Wanda Hayes.
