Stitt to Speak at GOP Event

by Elizabeth Pitts-Hibbard

The Stephens County Republicans are cooking up a fun night of fundraising on Saturday, May 16 when they will host the 15th Annual GOP Fish Fry at 6pm at the Stephens County Fairgrounds. Governor Kevin Stitt is scheduled to be the keynote speaker at the event.

Also in attendance will be US Representative Tom Cole, as well as elected officials from the area. “We expect about 700 folks,” said Leon Farris, Chairman of the Stephens County Republican Party. “This is a fun night every year.”

Volunteers do the cooking and serving for the annual event. “We don’t have it catered,” Farris said. “It’s a grassroots fundraiser for the Party.”

In addition to ticket sales, funds are raised via an auction during the event. Proceeds from the annual fundraiser help defray costs of maintaining a Republican Party headquarters during election years. “We had thousands of people come through that office last year looking for information, getting registered, getting yard signs,” Farris explained.

As of press time, Farris said there were still seats available. Tickets are $30 each or a table of 10 for $300. A table sponsorship also gets two tickets to the reception before dinner, during which attendees will have the opportunity to visit with Rep. Cole.

Tickets may be ordered by contacting Farris: leon@wpmonline or call 580-656-7951.
