Fire east of Marlow; no injuries reported

by Elizabeth Pitts-Hibbard

No injuries have been reported in conjunction with a fire that broke out at Eagle Iron and Metal on Highway 29 east of Marlow on Monday. Staff on the scene reported that the fire appeared to have started along the fence line on the east side of the property, which they had gotten under control. The fire had spread, however, to a large pile of "tire wire," which consists of metal wire and rubber scraps.

Marlow and Bray Fire departments were on the scene as of this writing; the cause of the fire has yet to be determined. Those traveling on Highway 29 around Marlow and Bray are advised to exercise caution in the area; visibility may be reduced due to smoke.
