Chisholm Trail Arts Council kicks off the 2019-2020 CTAC Live concert series at the Simmons Center on Thursday with the all-original bluegrass sounds of Steelwind, and tickets are still available for the show. Those in attendance early will be treated to a bonus, however: local favorite Jon Williams and the Coin Toss will open the show at 7pm and play until 7:25.

Coin Toss band member Tana Latham that the combo is excited for the opportunity. “We were surprised and honored when [CTAC executive director] Darcy Reeves called us and offered us the opportunity to open for Steelwind,” Latham said. “We’ve been watching their success, and it’s a great feeling to open for a band with so many local ties.”

Jon Williams and the Coin Toss are: Jon Williams, Pete Calhoun, Robert Bilbrey, and Tana Latham. They plan to play several original songs that are on their soon-to-be-released album, as well as a few signature covers.

“We hope people will come out and support two local bands for the price of one,” Latham added.

Steelwind co-writers Blake Parks and Michael Henneberry list tight harmonies and soulful instrumentation among their hallmarks. The band has played small, intimate venues as well as major festivals, and their latest album, “Blue,” was released earlier this year.

Band members include Blake Parks, Michael Henneberry, Becca Harris, Joel Parks, Kenny Parks, and Adam Davis.

Tickets are available at the door or by calling CTAC at 580-252-4160.
