January 05, 2023

DUNCAN – Chisholm Trail Arts Council is hosting a themed exhibit show and reception, set to open Jan. 13 at the art gallery.

“We want to promote our home county by inviting artists to share their works that have the essence of the Stephens County area,” said Darcy Reeves, Executive Director.

Examples of potential subject matter will include (but are not limited to) landscapes, wildlife, domestic life, architecture, figures, or memories associated with and inspired by the visuals, towns, history, and people of the Stephens County area.

“This exhibit aims to highlight the unique and well-known features of our home county,” she said.

The exhibit reception and opening will be 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13. It is a come-and-go reception, free and open to the public.

“After this exhibit comes down at the end of February, get ready for 2023 Youth Art Month coming up during March,” Reeves said. “Call-for-Arts is happening now for all students K-12.”

Deadline is Feb. 17 to submit art, which will only be accepted Feb. 3 through Feb. 17. All students, kindergarten through 12th grades can participate. There will be cash prizes awarded, and ribbons for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in elementary, middle and high school divisions. The show opens March 3.
